Do you use external keyboard and mouse with your laptop?

Recommended Posts

I use a laptop to work. I see a lot of people connecting additional keyword and mouse with their laptop. They say working on laptop for long hours using the keypad and touch pad can be very difficult. I have been working on a laptop for more than 10 years and I have never experienced any difficulties. Do you attach external keyboard and mouse while working on a laptop?

I use the laptop trackpad and keyboard when working on laptops as I like to be able to move around. I feel like having an additional keyboard and mouse limits the flexibility of places that I could work as there is extra things to move and also surfaces required to work on with a separate mouse are different to if it is just a laptop you are using.

I don't have a laptop but I think if I did I'd probably use an external mouse as you'd be able to control the pointer more accurately but I wouldn't bother with a keyboard. The only issue with laptops is they often have rubbish track pads and can be hard to control when you're doing important work. I guess it depends on the laptop though as if the keyboard is rubbish you might want to use something else.

I don't really have a preference to trackpad or mouse so I tend to not bother with using an additional keyboard and mouse when I am using my laptop for convenience really. But when at work I do sometimes use the external keyboard and mouse when working on a laptop as I think page navigation can be quicker with a mouse.

I don't have a laptop so I don't have an external mouse or keyboard for a laptop as I use a PC myself. I can see why people would have external mouse and keyboards for a laptop though. I think the primary use case is if you dock your laptop and maybe even close the lid and have external displays then you'd probably want to have external for that as it's more comfortable.
